Lena Horne and Lennie Hayton

Lena Mary Calhoun Horne, a singer, actress, dancer, and civil rights activist, married Lennie Hayton, a musical conductor and arranger, in December 1947. Later, the two separated, but did not divorce.

Now that I think of it, I'd suggest Lena's Stormy Weather co-star Katherine Dunham, activist, choreographer, dancer and anthropologist, and her Canadian husband John Pratt, who was her company's designer.
