Mildred Jeter and Richard Loving

Mildred Delores Jeter and Richard Perry Loving married in June 1958 in DC because the laws of Virginia, their home state, considered marriage between blacks and whites to be against the law. It took nine years for Loving v. Virginia to garner US Supreme Court's favor and overturn the Virginia conviction against the Lovings. They had three children, Donald, Peggy, and Sidney.

Though the official day celebrating Loving v. Virginia is in June, I felt it appropriate to publish this post on a day that is celebrated by all as a Loving Day.

This is a great site. I love the fact that you're showing normal couples. Oh yes and THANKS for no drama. Let's just concentrate on couples like us.

Thanks :) I'm glad you like it. It doesn't happen often, but I do delete comments from those not happy to be here. I like the calm :)

Lol Wow. Really? There's a site for black chicks that like white guys??? I never knew or thought of it as a big deal to mess with, date and marry outside our race. Black guys have been doing it for ages, so why shouldn't we??? Yes, it's kinda rare to see a black woman with a white man but who cares what other ppl think of who you're with? I've never cared and never dated a black guy lol Is this a support group or something for those who need reassurance that dating outside the race is ok??? lol

@ Sashta,

Actually there are a lot of sites out there about black women and white men. I can't speak for everyone who follows my site, but I don't really care what others think either. I started the site for the same reason other people start blogs about chocolate, forums about computers, or sites with recipes - because they like them. If you like, stick around. If not, ...

Their story was made into a TV movie starring Lela Rochon and Timothy Hutton in 1996 called "Mr. and Mrs. Loving"
