Amber and Nawras

Amber and Nawras met in high-school June 2007, married June 2011, and welcomed daughter Laila later that year. Amber is a student, and Nawras is a business owner.

Robbin and Jim

Gayle and Jimmy

Jimmy and Gayle met online in December 2006 and found they only lived six miles away from each other! He is a retired fireman and she works for the government. They married December 29, 2012 at the firehouse. He has three children and one grandchild. She has no kids but is a terrific aunt to her niece and nephews.

Nancy and Shawn

Nancy and Shawn met at church where Shawn is a deacon and Nancy serves on the trustee board. They started dating in 2008 and were married May 7, 2011. Shawn is employed as an electrician and Nancy is a social worker. She attended East Carolina University where she graduated with her masters degree in social work.

Molly and Alex

Molly and her beau, Alex, have been together two and a half years. They have the plan of getting married and having kids.

My Comments: Cute couple! They contacted me awhile ago; I hope they are still going strong.

Megan and Joe

Megan and Joe have been married for five years and have a sweet 2 1/2 year old daughter and an adorable little boy who is nearly 4 months old. Joe is Megan's soulmate and makes her laugh every day - he's a big teddy bear! Their daughter and son are the lights of their lives.

My Comments: I'm only adding this because I know someone will ask. Megan is Irish American and Black.

Marissa and Tom

Marissa and Tom have been in a long distance relationship since 2010 and met in a small bistro in Louisiana where she was working at the time. Tom is Arab American and a student living in Louisiana.  Marissa is an African American and a teacher in New York.

Paula and Dale

Paula and Dale have been married 27 years, dividing their time between her hometown of Chicago and Colorado.  He is a sports promoter and she recently completed her studies for her Masters degree in theology.

They recently returned to the Chicago area to be closer to their two daughters and six grandchildren.

Betzy and Neil

Betzy and Neil met while working at the same restaurant. However the two didn't get together until a number of years later, when Betzy reminded Neil about a promised date. Unfortunately, Neil went away for the army and later school. During that time Betzy was "the most supportive person in his life."  She kept in contact every day and was there to meet him the day he got back. They have been together ever since and are planning to get married July of next year.

Dondra and Shawn

Dondra and Shawn met at Victory Family Church in Decatur, Texas. where she serves as Worship leader.  Shawn is a Night Vision Specialist for United RotorCraft Solutions a subdivision of Air Methods and also the Sound Engineer at their church.  They married in Montego Bay, Jamaica on March 6, 2010 and are just crazy about each other.  They live in Lewisville, Texas. and have two small dogs Sammy and Izzy.

Shannon and Cheyenne

Shannon and Cheyenne got together in 1995.  They met right after Valentine's Day 1995 and married on April 29th, 1995. They celebrated their 17th anniversary this year and it still feels like they're newlyweds.  They've grown up together and are each other's best friend.  They love to travel together. London is their favorite destination, and they try to get there twice a year.  They would love to have kids but are reproductively challenged.  They over compensate with their three crazy dogs, Cinnamon, Lily (aka Dittylicious 'cause she's a diva!) and LTCDR Geordie Laforge (They are both sci-fi geeks!)

June and Ian

June and Ian have been together more than eight years. June works for the state, and Ian works at a petroleum plant. They have one son.

Tonia and Mike

Tonia and Mike met on the job in 2006. They were married on August 8, 2008 (08/08/08) because they felt that an upright 8 is simply a symbol of eternity. They were determined that love like theirs would outlive any ignorance or racism and last forever.

Faith and Troy

Troy and Faith met through a mutual friend. Troy is from New Orleans, and Faith is from Jamaica. Troy was divorced after 12 years and Faith had just gotten out of a terrible relationship. This was their first attempt to date outside of their race. They are now just mad they didn't try sooner.

Tawana and Mike

Tawana and Mike, who have been together for 10 years, married in 2008. "We have the most beautiful 3 year old twin girls in the world!!!"

Marguerite and Mark

Marguerite and Mark met on an online dating service in May 2009 and instantly clicked. So many common interests including music, cooking, history, baseball etc that they really fell hard for each other. Mark lived in Missouri and was and still is an Archivist at an HBCU. Marguerite was a restaurant manager/caterer from Mississippi. They met in person in Tennessee in August 2009 and spent the next two weeks together. Labor Day weekend, Mark was down in Mississippi, proposing. Marguerite said yes and they were married in 2009 and live in Missouri. A whirlwind romance? Perhaps, but they knew it was right.

"We never considered color to be an obstacle in our relationship, just another fact of life. Our families have been nothing but supportive and wish us only happiness. When we spend time together, laughter permeates the air as we are constantly cracking ourselves up. Although we are firmly planted in the "middle age" demographic, our love is truly young at heart and we are blessed to have found each other."

Shanique and Michael

Shanique and Michael met August 2007 in Alabama, her home state, while he was working on a 3 month job there. To make a long story short; their eyes locked (haha) at an Oyster bar. They started talking, against the wishes of mutual friends, and never stopped. They moved to North Carolina together after 3 months of knowing each other, but do not recommend that kind of step in a relationship to everyone. They married August 2009 in Massachusetts, his home state. They have two beautiful children, a boy and a girl, and 2 spoiled dogs. He's a licensed electrician, and she graduate as a Paralegal May 2012. 


Secret to their happiness: They laugh, live and learn together as a family; they laugh with and at each other, and they finish when the other one can't. They are best friends who sometimes get angry with one another, but they never lose sight of what's important.......themselves.

Tamara and Shawn

Shawn and Tamara were married on Veteran Day November 2005 - which is appropriate since they both are veterans. They met in Atlanta (he's still in the military and she is retired from the Army and was working as a civilian). Shawn is her Prince Charming, he loves her for who she is and not what she looks like. They have two hilarious babies, Seth and Shiloh. She prays that one day everyone will meet "the one!"

Monique and Matthew

Matthew and Monique met while serving in the United States Navy in 1999.  They are currently living overseas and love to travel.  Matthew works for the Department of Defense and Monique is a full-time nursing student.  They have one 9 year old and one little dog!

Edwinna and Jamey

Edwinna and Jamey have been married for 14 years (1997) and met at North Central Bible College. They have served together in ministry for 15 years. Edwinna is a associate dean at a university and Jamey is a pastor. They do a lot of speaking together on racial reconciliation and multi-ethic understanding.

Jamey: "We love each other ....sooooooooooo much. I am her vanilla wafer, and she is my sexy/sweet chocolate! Together we make an awesome vanilla/chocolate mocha!"
